Rory Smith

Rory joined DBR in 2007 after completing his NVQ Level 3 in Stonemasonry at the Building Crafts College and has since developed into a highly skilled conservation specialist and Site Manager. Progressing from apprentice to foreman and now site management, he brings over 15 years of experience in the careful repair, replacement, and conservation of historic masonry.

Rory is known for his meticulous and considerate approach to working with historic fabric, with particular expertise in in-situ banker work, indenting, and conservation cleaning. He has worked extensively on major heritage projects, including serving as Masonry Foreman and Digital Asset Manager on the restoration of the Elizabeth Tower.

His project experience includes works at the Palace of Westminster, Old Royal Naval College, and Hampton Court Palace. With an MSc in Conservation and strong technical and client-facing skills, Rory brings a collaborative and detail-driven approach to delivering high-quality heritage projects.
