Hugh has been with DBR since 2004, originally joining the company as a stonemason and carver before progressing to a working site foreman. He now works as DBR’s in-house CAD Technician, undertaking detailed site surveys and producing stone detailing for approval and manufacture, including drawings, stone schedules, templates, and moulds.
An accomplished banker mason, carver, and letter cutter, Hugh has demonstrated exceptional masonry and conservation skills across numerous projects, with particular expertise in moulded and carved indenting work and the sensitive integration of new stone into weathered fabric. He has previously produced lettering and carving for the Richard Kindersley Workshop in London and the Nick Benson Workshop in the USA. Hugh is known for his meticulous record keeping, strong eye for quality, and collaborative approach, regularly supporting site teams by assisting with setting out complex masonry details. His project experience includes work at the Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, and St James’s Palace, as well as The Ritz Hotel.
