Adrian Attwood ACR

After completing a BSc (Hons) in Building Technology and Management, Adrian entered the building conservation and restoration industry as a Trainee Surveyor in 1987, firstly with a large Management Contractor and then with a specialist masonry company. In 1991 Adrian joined DBR (London) Limited as Operations Manager and became Executive Director in 1999, whilst achieving a Post Graduate Diploma in Conservation from Bournemouth University. Adrian was appointed Company Secretary at DBR in 2010 and as Chairman in 2023. 

Adrian is an Accredited Conservator (ACR) with ICON and has extensive experience of historic building regeneration with a particular emphasis on masonry cleaning and repair. Adrian also lectures widely in the UK and Europe on historic building conservation techniques and practices and provides technical advice on heritage projects. 

Adrian has over 35 years experience in historic building conservation and live environments and is an accredited conservator with a particular emphasis on masonry cleaning and conservation repair including poulticing, laser, lime and nano technology. His project planning and ability to foresee challenges on historic building projects will add value to this project. Adrian advocates clear communication and relevant processes to achieve project deliverables and provides technical conservation knowledge for façade, roofing and interior polychrome conservation alongside his management and craft team. 

Adrian is highly experienced in the Project management of Conservation work to historic buildings, principally in Listed Buildings & Scheduled Monuments. Adrian often acts as a ‘hands on’ Projects Director on selected conservation projects as noted below. 

Adrian also lectures on conservation principals as part of CPD Programmes and Skills Workshops including topics such as fire safety in the heritage environment. He also provides seminars on skills shortages and champions craftsmanship in historic building conservation through the company’s initiatives with QEST and DBR’s campaign Year of the Master Craftsperson.
