Treatment proposals

(services)

DBR develops evidence-based treatment proposals for historic buildings and monuments, ensuring that conservation interventions are carefully tested, assessed and tailored to the specific requirements of each structure. Our approach combines practical trial works, condition assessments and technical reporting to establish the most appropriate repair and conservation methodologies before full-scale implementation.

Our specialists undertake cleaning trials, masonry repair trials, material sampling and methodology assessments to evaluate effectiveness, durability, visual impact and operational considerations. Detailed reporting provides clients, architects and heritage stakeholders with the information required to make informed decisions and secure statutory approvals where necessary.

DBR has extensive experience in delivering conservation trial programmes on nationally significant heritage assets. At Merchant Taylors’ Hall, we carried out a series of cleaning and repair trials to assess methodologies, effectiveness, noise disruption and other factors influencing a wider courtyard conservation project. These works included access scaffolding, cleaning trials, masonry repairs and detailed reporting, providing valuable information to inform the subsequent conservation strategy.

Our treatment proposals are developed with a focus on minimum intervention, material compatibility and long-term performance, ensuring that conservation works preserve historic significance while meeting modern operational requirements.
