DBR Executive Director and Chairman Joins Panel at the 2026 Plowden Medal Event

22 Oct 2026

On 14th October 2026, our Executive Director and Chairman, Adrian Attwood ACR, took part in a panel discussion at the Plowden Medal Conservation Award, exploring career pathways in conservation and the opportunities available to help professionals enter the sector and thrive within it.

The discussion focused on the opportunities available to aspiring conservators, the different routes into the profession, and how individuals can be supported to develop their skills and thrive throughout their careers. With traditional conservation skills playing a vital role in preserving the UK's historic buildings and cultural heritage, creating accessible pathways into the profession remains an important priority for the sector.

Reflecting on the importance of supporting the next generation, Adrian Attwood ACR said:

"The Plowden Medal reflects the values that underpin QEST's 'Making the Future' campaign: celebrating excellence, inspiring the next generation and safeguarding vital heritage skills. Conservation thrives when we create opportunities for people to learn, develop and build meaningful careers preserving our shared cultural heritage."

Also in attendance was Enikő Leányvári, DBR’s 2025 QEST DBR Ltd Scholar and founder of Tiger’s Eye Mosaic. Through its partnership with the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST), DBR sponsors Enikő as she develops her expertise in traditional mosaic techniques, helping to preserve and advance this specialist craft. Her attendance reflected DBR’s wider commitment to nurturing talent and supporting the future of heritage craftsmanship.
