Westminster Abbey is one of the most architecturally and spiritually significant places in London with over a thousand years of history beginning when Benedictine monks congregated on this site in the middle of the tenth century.

The Abbey has been the coronation church since 1066 and is the final resting place of seventeen monarchs. The present church, begun by Henry III in 1245, is one of the most important Gothic buildings in the country, with a medieval shrine of an Anglo-Saxon saint still at its heart.

DBR London has carried out various conservation projects at Westminster Abbey including extensive stone repairs, cast lead roofing to the North Porches, essential maintenance work of the roof parapets, and masonry work to the medieval precinct walls.

Westminster Abbey’s precinct walls are early medieval with later modifications and additions. The walls are made of Kentish Rag-stone with limestone dressings and brick cappings. DBR London were responsible for de=-frassing of friable surfaces, ragstone resetting & replacement, repointing with lime mortar, wall top consolidation and reconstruction of the brick capping.

This project lasted over a 2 year timeframe and was carried out in multiple phases.
