DBR London has completed the restoration and refurbishment at Liberty London – one of the world’s most renowned department stores, located in London’s West End. This was the first major overhaul to the Grade II* building since it was built, almost 100 years ago. DBR’s team of conservators, stone masons, and highly skilled craftspeople carried out works on the exterior timber cladding, stained glass windows, roof conservation, carved stone repairs, and notably, the conservation of the gilded Mayflower ship weathervane. Impressively, DBR Conservation and Leadwork completed many remarkable conservation milestones during the duration of this project, including the conservation and refurbishment of 1,500 original leaded lights and metal-framed windows across all four facades.

Initial commission was granted in April 2019, with on-site work commencing in January 2020 and completion in December 2021. Further information on the project was published, in collaboration with Heritage Architecture, in a limited edition publication on the Liberty Conservation and Refurbishment project titled, Liberty – Craftsmanship in Conservation.
