The beautiful 18m high Grade II listed Equality-Harmony mosaic mural on Broadwater Farm, built with and for the community in 1987 by Gülsün Erbil, has been removed from a building that is being demolished and is being restored by conservation experts on site.
During the day we offered:
Tour and Mosaic-making workshop
‘The Power of Community Art’ panel talk – 12-1.30pm: hear from the mosaic mural artist, Gülsün Erbil, local community leader Clasford Stirling MBE, and architect and director of Studio Gill, Pedro Gil ARB RIBA.
Arts and crafts tables for kids during the talk: mosaic collage, colouring and more.
Tours of the mosaic restoration tent – 2-4pm with DBR Limited: see the huge mural pieces up close, hear about the history, restoration and next steps (it’s like a colourful mosaic sculpture park!)
